It’s the invigorating aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, a clear signal of the city’s evolving specialty coffee scene.
When I last visited Seville, before the world was gripped by the pandemic in 2020, the coffee culture was still fairly rooted in Spanish tradition from what I could see at the time—dominated by torrefacto coffee, a type of brew involving sugar-roasted beans.
But when I returned in early 2023 for an extended stay, the transformation was palpable.
My partner and I, both fervent coffee enthusiasts, embarked on a caffeinated odyssey, sampling the city’s burgeoning specialty coffee offerings over number of months. Our journey ultimately led us to crown MUY Coffee as our favourite – a haven of meticulously crafted brews that became our go-to spot.

Nestled in the Feria neighbourhood, just a leisurely seven-minute stroll from the iconic Metropol Parasol, MUY Coffee is a small space, yet one that radiates an inviting warmth that’s hard to resist.
The menu is a coffee lover’s paradise, featuring everything from classic espresso drinks to trendy pour-overs.
While close to Seville’s historic centre, it’s most definitely located in a more authentic, local neighbourhood, close to both Alameda de Hercules and Calle Feria. It’s the kind of neighbourhood gem that you dream about finding when travelling.
Sourced from the Ineffable Roastery in Seville, the beans are the cornerstone of MUY’s exceptional brews and they rotate them regularly. Beyond coffee, MUY offers a curated selection of organic bread, cakes, and simple sandwiches. Each item is a testament to the café’s commitment to quality and local sourcing.
MUY Coffee became our sanctuary in Seville, despite the closer proximity of other coffee shops on this list.
Run by three local brothers—Jafar and Damien being the charismatic faces you’ll meet at the counter—this café is a labour of love. These brothers are what I would affectionately deem to be ‘coffee nerds’; their eyes light up at the mere mention of coffee, and their knowledge is both deep and infectious.
What truly sets MUY apart is the genuine warmth of its proprietors. Before long, we found ourselves part of a small community, introduced to fellow Irish expats and digital nomads who had also found solace in this little café.
The baked goods, crafted by a friend of the owners, are the perfect accompaniment to any coffee choice. It’s nearly impossible to leave without grabbing a sweet treat for the road.
MUY Coffee wasn’t just my favourite coffee shop in Seville; it was my most cherished coffee discovery of 2023, across all the places we lived and visited across Spain, France and Italy!
2 | Virgin Coffee

When we weren’t at MUY Coffee, Virgin Coffee was our go-to second choice.
Tucked away behind Las Setas, the café may be small, but its modern design of white walls and wooden accents creates a welcoming atmosphere. The owner, a trailblazer in Seville’s speciality coffee scene, roasts the beans on-site, ensuring top-notch quality in every cup.
The café offers a range of options, from classic americanos to the indulgent cappuccino regina with a shot of caramel syrup. But no matter what you choose, expect excellence.
For us, a trip to the city centre wasn’t complete without a detour to Virgin Coffee. It became a regular stop, not just for the outstanding coffee but also for the genuine, friendly service. Whenever we were in the city centre, making the slight detour to Virgin Coffee was always worth it.
3 | Parcería Café

Parcería Café is a little oasis tucked away beside the bustling Feria Market. The café’s expansive menu is a testament to its commitment to quality and innovation. From turmeric lattes to cold brews, and from V60s to flat whites, the café offers a plethora of brewing methods that cater to every coffee aficionado’s palate.
The café partners with Alquimista Coffee Lab and features a guest roaster of the day, ensuring that each cup is a unique experience. Their beans are meticulously sourced, fully traceable from origin to cup.
This commitment to quality and local sourcing is encapsulated in this motto from their website: “When you come to La Parcería, or buy our coffee, you are contributing to the development of a local and independent business.”
But Parcería Café is not just about coffee; it’s also a haven for food lovers.
Their menu boasts an array of delectable options, from toast and granola bowls to pastries and waffles.
The café’s brunch offerings are particularly noteworthy. Imagine savouring Ibérico pork loin with brie, pickles, Iberian ham, jalapeños, and honey mustard sauce on artisanal sourdough, all complemented by a perfectly brewed flat white.

Tucked away at the side of Feria Market, the café’s location adds an extra layer of charm to the experience, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the depth and breadth of Seville’s burgeoning coffee scene.

Jester is a snug little gem nestled in the heart of Seville, where you can expect an inviting atmosphere. With just a few tables available, this café exudes an intimate vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a well-kept secret.
The café’s menu is a delightful blend of traditional and trendy, offering everything from iced coffee to açai bowls.
Their iced coffee, in particular, has garnered a reputation as being one of the best in Sevilla amongst regulars. Sourced from the specialty coffee roaster brand Ineffable, the beans are the linchpin of Jester’s exceptional offerings.
But it’s not just about the coffee here. Jester also serves up an array of other treats, including mixed cereal, fruit and yoghurt bowls, bagels, and pastries. For those with dietary preferences, they offer almond, soy, and coconut milk options, making it a versatile spot for all.

5 | Syra Coffee

Syra Coffee is a minimalist haven tucked away just past Virgin Coffee, behind the iconic Las Setas. The café is small but thoughtfully designed, exuding a modern, slick atmosphere that aligns with its Barcelona roots.
The café’s coffee menu is a testament to its commitment to quality and accessibility. They offer a wide range of specialty coffees, including a noteworthy flat white that pairs perfectly with Syra’s banana bread.
The beans are their own brand—single-origin, 100% arabica, and sourced directly from small farms and cooperatives. This ethical and sustainable approach to sourcing is a cornerstone of Syra’s brand ethos.
Beyond coffee, the café offers a limited but delicious selection of snacks. Each item complements their coffee offerings, making for a well-rounded experience.
My time at Syra was a study in contrasts. While the café is undoubtedly a great spot for coffee aficionados, I found myself slightly disappointed by the milk-to-coffee ratio in their flat white (the barista tended to use a little bit too much).
That said, this is a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things. We even bought some of their own-brand beans for our moka pot at home, and it was seriously good.
If you’re short on time and deciding between Syra and Virgin Coffee (as they’re within a few hundred metres of one another), I’d lean towards Virgin. But if you have the time, why not experience both? Each offers a unique take on Seville’s burgeoning specialty coffee scene.
6 | Delatribu

Tucked away in Seville’s historic Jewish Quarter, Delatribu is a delightful find, especially if you’ve just navigated the labyrinthine beauty of the Alcazar. The café is a small, intimate space, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in quality and atmosphere.
Delatribu offers an array of specialty coffees, including drip coffee prepared using the pour-over method. The beans are supplied by the renowned Ineffable roasters, ensuring each cup is a masterpiece in its own right. The café also offers a modest selection of pastries, perfect for a quick bite.
My visit to Delatribu felt like a serendipitous discovery. The barista was incredibly welcoming, and the coffee was expertly crafted. It’s the ideal spot for a caffeine recharge after a morning of sightseeing, offering not just a cup, but a moment of respite in a city that is bursting with sensory experiences.
7 | Borbotea Coffee Lab

Situated just a stone’s throw from the bustling Alameda de Hercules, Borbotea Coffee Lab offers a tranquil escape from the city’s more tourist-heavy spots.
The coffee menu is simple but effective, focusing solely on specialty coffee. The beans are their own brand, sourced directly from Colombia, adding an extra layer of authenticity to each brew.
The café also offers a diverse range of food and snacks, including toast, granola bowls, pies, and cookies. Vegan options like Oatly oat milk, vegan chocolates, and brownies are also available.
Our first day in Seville led us to Borbotea, and it set the tone for our coffee journey in the city. The café hosts weekly courses and workshops, including tasting sessions and barista courses, making it a hub for coffee education.
The café’s location is slightly off the beaten path but well worth the detour, especially if you’re exploring the nearby shopping streets.
Borbotea Coffee Lab is a testament to the evolving specialty coffee culture in Seville, blending expertise, community, and a touch of wanderlust into each cup.
8 | La Cacharrería Café

I first discovered La Cacharrería Café back in 2020 and was thrilled to see how it has evolved when I revisited in 2023.
Situated just behind Las Setas, this café has always been a bustling spot, and for good reason. The interior is trendy, with exposed brickwork and their coffee menu is a solid one, offering everything from classic brews to Italian favourites and speciality options.
But what really sets this café apart is its food. They offer a wide range of homemade cakes, waffles, and even high-quality beef burgers. If you’re planning a day of exploration in Seville, their brunch options are a must-try. It’s the perfect spot to fuel up before a day of sightseeing.
Cake servings are also huge and are perfect to pair with a cup of coffee. In the late afternoon, this café also comes to life as people meet friends over coffee and cake before heading onwards to dinner later in the evening.
9 | Alfonsito Take Away

Don’t let the name Alfonsita Take Away mislead you; this café is far more than a mere takeaway spot.
I stumbled upon this cosy haven while visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, and it instantly became a memorable part of my Seville experience.
The café offers a straightforward yet satisfying range of coffees, from classic flat whites to robust americanos. Since writing this post, it does seem like Alfonsito has moved premises to a larger premises closer to the Casa de los Pilatos.
Their coffee stands out for the quality of the beans, supplied by Caffê Imperiale, a young roasting company committed to delivering a unique flavour profile.
But it’s not just the coffee that caught my attention.
Alfonsita Take Away has a keen focus on healthy options, offering a variety of vegan and gluten-free choices. Their bagels are a standout, and I can personally vouch for their beautifully presented bites to eat. The café also offers quiches, croissants, and salad bowls, making it a versatile spot for any meal.
If you find yourself exploring around Casa de los Pilatos or wandering through that part of the city, this café is a hidden gem that offers great value for money. The friendly service and inviting atmosphere make it an ideal pitstop for both a caffeine boost and a nourishing meal.
10 | Ofelia Bakery

Ofelia Bakery is a sanctuary for those who appreciate the traditional over the trendy.
Nestled in the Alfalfa area, this café-pastry shop has been serving up homemade sweets since 2013. Their coffee leans more towards the Italian classic rather than the speciality brews that millennials often seek. They use standard, non-torrefacto Italian brands for their beans.
Ofelia Bakery is particularly notable for its food options.
From the best carrot cake in town to a wide variety of sandwiches and desserts, Ofelia Bakery is a brunch haven. It’s a delightful escape from the crowds, tucked away in a cosy corner of Seville.
If you’re a cake lover like me, this place is a must-visit. Their commitment to quality ingredients and traditional recipes makes every bite a nostalgic journey.
11 | Lalita Café

Lalita Café is an industrial-chic space located conveniently near the San Justa train station. The café is a speciality coffee haven with a focus on filter coffee. The owner roasts the beans, offering a new batch every two weeks, ensuring that each cup is a unique experience.
What makes Lalita standout are its quality homemade offerings—fantastic focaccias and mouthwatering cakes that complement their excellent coffee.
This Seville coffee shop has an expert barista-owner who has adopted a no-laptop policy. Considering the quality of the products, the café offers excellent value for money.
12 | Utopía Café

Utopía Café is a hole-in-the-wall gem located in the northern part of Seville’s bustling shopping quarter.
While the café is takeaway-only, it’s worth the detour for its excellent coffee and friendly service. They offer a range of coffee types, from flat whites to iced americanos, using Alquimista beans as well as their own home-roasted beans.
The barista was not only skilled but also bilingual, making it easier for non-Spanish speakers visiting the city. While there is no seating, for coffee aficionados this coffee shop in Seville is highly recommended.
The flat white here is sublime, and the muffins and cookies are equally tempting.
