Killarney and the surrounding area of its National Park is one of the most visited destinations in Ireland and is also an extremely popular diversion along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way coastal route.
An area that is positively dripping in astonishing natural beauty, it can sometimes be a little tricky to find somewhere decent to stay if you don’t plan well in advance.
Some (of the nicer) Killarney hotels can be a bit on the pricier side, so Airbnb makes for a good alternative, allowing you flexibility and more often than not, great locations to boot.
I’ve gone through every single Airbnb Killarney listing to save you the time and here are my top picks for those who are looking for something a little bit luxe!
Are you ready to uncover the top stays in Killarney? Let’s begin!

Secondly, while a little outside of town, this Airbnb is in a great location with access to the Fossa Way, a 4km trail that leads to Killarney town and from which you can directly access Killarney National Park, right across the road.

Planning your Killarney trip
Things to do in Killarney
There is so much to do to keep you occupied in Killarney! I’ve thoroughly covered off the best things to do in Killarney in this post, so head on over and read up in advance of your trip to Killarney!
You could also try out some of the following unique activities if you plan on exploring the great outdoors of Killarney:
Where should I stay in Killarney?
Killarney town centre: This sort of speaks for itself! Book an Airbnb in Killarney town centre, or one of those that I’ve listed above within walking distance if you want to be able to reach the restaurants, bars and shops of the town within a few minutes’ walk.
You’ll also only be a couple of kilometres away from the Muckross Road entrance to Killarney National Park.
Muckross Road: This is the main road that leads to the biggest entrance to Killarney National Park. Stay on this side of town if you plan on being in and out of the National Park and want quick access to Muckross House, Muckross Abbey, Muckross Traditional Farms and Torc Waterfall.
Also, a good location if you plan on taking the N71 road out towards Ladies View, Moll’s Gap, Kenmare and onwards along the Ring of Kerry, as you’ll miss having to go through the traffic that builds up at peak times around Killarney.
Fossa & Aghadoe: located at the northern point of the Lakes of Killarney and the town, stay here if you want to be a little bit away from the humdrum of Killarney town.
Exceptional views of the lakes from Aghadoe, which is located at the top of a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside. Also, a good choice if you want to avail of the N72 road and plan on heading out in the Dingle direction.
Beaufort: a little village around 10km away from Killarney town, this pretty place puts you near to the Gap of Dunloe and is a gateway to the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks. Perfect for those looking for somewhere more rural to rest up.
How many days do you need in Killarney?
If you are a fan of beautiful locations and the great outdoors, then you could easily spend a week in the area without getting bored. However, most people don’t have this luxury so in order to truly get a good flavour I would, at minimum, recommend 2 nights/3 full days in Killarney for a memorable trip.
